The most rewarding of this time was as a CEO, helping communities grow and thrive and encouraging and supporting individuals to reach their full potential. My desire to help people manage stress and other mental health issues commenced in earnest 15 years ago when I undertook to attain a diploma in Family Therapy and Counselling, with the view one day to change careers. More recently I completed a Graduate Diploma in Family & Relationship Therapy. I have a number of other qualifications in management, this knowledge and experience helps me help others in communication, managing mental health, identifying strategies and helping individuals consider change in a positive way. I am also a qualified trainer and assessor in leadership with a focus on local government elected members and officers. I could see that while I could help people with medical care often their emotional and mental health needs were not being met. This took me on a learning journey. Curtin University offered a course for people working in rural areas to understand and help meet the mental health needs of country people. Once I had completed this training, I wanted to understand how families could be helped as a whole unit. I completed my diploma in Family Therapy and Counselling and have been working with families ever since. I have worked for over 17 years within school communities and now work in my own practice providing individual, couple and family therapy. I also provide parent coaching and employee assistance.
